Gerry Bellman, MSc, BDS, FDS, DOrtho, RCS.

Dr. Bellman obtained his dental degree at the Royal London Hospital and completed his Masters in Orthodontics at the Eastman Institute of dental surgery in London. Thereafter he opened and successfully operated two private practices in London. Dr. Bellman is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the British Orthodontic Society, the European Orthodontic Society and a founding member of the South West London Orthodontic Study Club. Since 2004 he has been an international speaker and author of several articles on Invisalign, a member of the Invisalign Clinical Council of Europe and was among the original evaluation sites when Invisalign was first introduced in the UK. Dr. Bellman specializes in adult treatment utilizing the Damon and Invisalign orthodontic appliances.

Angelos Alvanos D.M.D, MS Ortho (St Louis, USA)

Dr. Alvanos was born in Tampa, Florida (USA). He completed his General Dentistry degree (DMD) in 2000 at Semmelweis University (Budapest, Hungary) and obtained his Master of Science degree in Orthodontics at the Saint Louis University (MO, USA) in 2005. Dr. Alvanos is a full time private practitioner at the Hampstead Orthodontic Practice in London, UK and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the British Orthodontic Society and the World Federation of Orthodontists. Dr. Alvanos is also a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Jeryl D. English, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. English earned both his dental degree and orthodontic specialty degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Prior to his current work at UT, Dr. English was a professor and the former program director of the Orthodontic Department at Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. English served in the United States Army Dental Corps from 1971 until his retirement in 1995. His numerous assignments included Commander, Dental Units in Operation Desert Storm; Commander of the Pacific Dental Service Support Area and US Army DENTAC-Hawaii; Commander and Chief of Orthodontic, US Army DENTAC-Berlin and Orthodontic consultant to the Chief of the US Army Dental Corps. Currently, Dr. English serves on the American Board of Orthodontics as Director from the Southwestern Society of Orthodontics. He is chair of the ABO Written Examination Committee and is a consultant for the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation and serves as an Orthodontic Specialty Site Visitor. Dr. English has served as reviewing section editor for the Quintessence International Journal of Orthodontics; and as ad hoc reviewer for The Angle Orthodontist and the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. English has been a recipient of numerous, teaching, mentoring and research awards, from various institutions and professional organizations and has also written numerous orthodontic abstracts, articles and book chapters. He is widely recognized as a speaker in orthodontics on the national and international level.

Dubravko (Dubi) Pavlin, D.M.D. M.S.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Pavlin received his M.S.D from the University of Zagreb, Croatia and his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Pavlin’s academic activities include the functions of Program Director for Predoctoral Orthodontics and the Advanced Education Program for Orthodontists, a course director of three undergraduate and three graduate courses at the UTHSCSA and a lecturer in other didactic and clinical courses in predoctoral and graduate programs. He is also directing a laboratory involved in research projects in the area of bone biology and serves as a reviewer for several basic science and clinical journals. The primary research interest in Dr. Pavlin’s laboratory is in regulation of genes for bone cell (osteoblast) markers.

Chung H. Kau, B.D.S., M.S.C.D., M.B.A., M.O.R.T.H., F.D.S., F.F.D. (Ortho), F.A.M.S. (Ortho), Ph.D.

Dr. Kau completed his dental training at the Faculty of Dentistry at the National University of Singapore and his orthodontic specialty and academic training at the Cardiff University in Wales, UK. Dr. Kau is an active researcher with a keen interest in three-dimensional research. He is an invited speaker on this topic and has shared his work on the international stage that includes North America, Western and Central Europe, the Baltic States, Hungary and the Far East. He actively contributes and publishes in the orthodontic literature and currently has over 150 publications and conference papers. His other research interests include multi-centre randomized control trials in orthodontics and the clinical management of hypodontia. Dr. Kau also serves on the international educational level and is on the Panel of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and an international examiner for the College in Cairo, Egypt. Additionally, he is on the editorial review board for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopaedics and ad hoc reviewer for a number of other journals which include the Journal of Orthodontics, Angle Orthodontist, Cleft Lip and Palate Journal, International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery and Evidence Based Dentistry Journal.

Lawrence J. Levens, DDS, MSd

Orthodontist

Dr. Larry Levens was born and raised in St. Louis where he attended schools in the Ladue School District. Following his graduation from Horton Watkins (Ladue) High School in 1978, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. In 1986 he graduated, with honors, from Dental School at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He completed his Graduate Studies with honors at St. Louis University’s Orthodontic Department and received his Master’s Degree in Orthodontics in 1988. He has his specialty board license in orthodontics through the Missouri State Dental Board. He feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to practice orthodontics with his father, Dr. Philip Levens, prior to his retirement in 1991. Dr. Levens says his dad always took time to discuss diagnosis and treatment planning, exposing him to the field well before he began his formal dental education.

Sunil Wadhwa, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Division of Orthodontics, Department of Craniofacial Sciences, University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine

Dr. Wadhwa received his D.D.S. from Columbia University in 1996 and his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in 2002. Prior to his current position as Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut, he served a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Flavio Uribe, DDS, JM.Dent.Sc.

Program Director, Division of Orthodontics, Department of Craniofacial Sciences, University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine

Dr. Uribe received his D.D.S. from the Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud, Medellin, Colombia in 1993 and advanced training and Master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 2002. He currently serves as the post-graduate Program Director and Orthodontic Clinic Director at the University of Connecticut.
